God looked at human progress and said something shocking:

“Nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.” (Genesis 11)

Imagine that.
The God of impossibilities acknowledging human potential.

Why did He say that?

Because at that moment, humans had three things we often underestimate today:

• one language

• one shared goal

• and resources already within reach

No confusion. No mixed signals. No secret agendas.

Their goal?
To build a great city with a tower that reached the skies.

But here’s the part we often skip.

The goal wasn’t just about height or architecture.

It had three layers:

1. A shared vision → “Let us build a great city.”

2. A reason → to create a monument of their greatness.

3. An outcome → to keep them together and prevent scattering.

In short: unity, identity, and togetherness.

Then they looked around and used what they had:

• a plain land in Shinar

• burnt bricks

• natural asphalt for mortar

Nothing fancy. Just available resources.

They started building…

And the progress was so fast that God Himself said (paraphrased):

“If they can do this now, just imagine what they’ll do later.”

Everything was working.
The systems were sound.
The results were visible.

That’s powerful.

Now pause here for a second.

And this is where it quietly hits real life.

Think about relationships.
How many relationships fail not because love is missing - but because communication is?

Two people may want different things and never say it out loud.
One person wants partnership; the other wants convenience.
One wants growth; the other wants comfort.

Even marriages struggle here.
Some people discover after marriage that:

• One partner wants a stay-at-home spouse, the other wants to build a career

• One thrives in structure, the other lives comfortably in chaos

None of these are “evil.”
They’re just unspoken.

The same applies to business and purpose.

What exactly is the goal of that business/purpose?
Who is it meant to help?
How will you communicate it clearly to your target audience?
Have you actually used the resources already around you?

Alignment changes everything.

Come, let Us (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) go down and there confuse and mix up their language, so that they will not understand one another’s speech. AMP

Even with unity, communication, hard work, and results…
God still stepped in and disrupted the Tower of Babel.

Not because they were incompetent.
Not because the structure wasn’t working.
But because it wasn’t His will.

That’s the sobering part.

You can do everything “right” on paper:

• Communicate well

• Set clear goals

• Work hard

• Build systems

And even then, it needs God’s approval to truly stand and fulfill His will.

So the order matters.

Seek God first.
Then communicate clearly.
Then align goals.
Then put in the work.

Because only God decides what prospers - and what gets paused, redirected, or stopped entirely.

That’s the real lesson Babel leaves us with.

This is what the Holy Spirit placed on my heart to write today.
Let Him guide you gently into discovering if your goals are in alignment with God’s will.

Ask yourself:

Are my words (communication), actions, goals, and God’s direction agreeing or arguing?

If they’re agreeing, you’re aligned.
If they’re arguing, something needs adjusting.

What part of this stood out to you the most?

Both sets are vessels.
Both are used to serve.
Yet some are for honour, and others for common use.

In the same way, God uses vessels to serve His people. But Scripture reminds us that not every vessel is used in the same way.

Our prayer, then, is to be vessels unto honour; not common or careless, but set apart, ready, and useful to the Master.

A vessel of honour is sanctified, set apart for a special purpose, by obedience and by turning away from sin as much as possible. Such a vessel is prepared for every good work.

Now in a large house there are not only ^[a]vessels and objects of gold and silver, but also vessels and objects of wood and of earthenware, and some are for honorable (noble, good) use and some for dishonorable (ignoble, common). ²¹ Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these things [which are dishonorable—disobedient, sinful], he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified [set apart for a special purpose and], useful to the Master, prepared for every good work. (AMP)

In a well-furnished kitchen there are not only crystal goblets and silver platters, but waste cans and compost buckets—some containers used to serve fine meals, others to take out the garbage. Become the kind of container God can use to present any and every kind of gift to his guests for their blessing. (MSG)

But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.

If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work. (KJV)

But do you remember the wedding at Cana? John 2.

They were lacking wine to serve their guests.
Lacking provision.
Lacking fulfilment.
Lacking purpose.

Because really, isn’t part of the purpose of a wedding for the bride and groom to entertain their guests?

And then it happened: THE WINE FINISHED.

Disaster.

Imagine attending a wedding.
No, let me rephrase that…
Imagine being the bride or groom at your wedding, and the guests start complaining that there’s no food.

I don’t know about other cultures, but in Nigeria, where I come from?
You’ll immediately become the talk of the town for weeks among the oversabi aunties and the “I-too-know” uncles.

They’ll even mock you for throwing a wedding in the first place when you couldn’t provide the basic necessities for guests:

Food and drinks.

Because let’s be honest…
Most times, the primary reason guests attend a wedding is to eat.

Some don’t even know the bride and groom.
Some don’t really care.
Some don’t even wish them well.

But they all come for one common thing:

The wine.

(The same way people gravitate toward you for your value and what you have to offer.)

And then…

Boom.
No wine.

Now, situations happen; though I humbly advise you not to let that situation happen at your own wedding. (Lol.)

But then in verse 6 of John 2, Jesus gives a simple instruction:

“Fill the jars with water.”

So here’s the real question:

What’s your water?

In seasons of lack…
When provision feels thin…
When fulfilment is missing…
When purpose feels unclear, and people are looking up to you…
When there seems to be no wine…

What is the water you have?

What can God work with in your life?
What water can Christ turn into wine?

The kind of wine that makes people taste your life and say,
“This is the best version yet.” (John 2:9–10)

Think about it, sweetheart.

Those water pots were already there —
Used for ceremonial purposes,
With the ability to hold twenty to thirty gallons each [Wheww!!!]. (John 2:6)

They were just empty.
They didn’t have water yet. (John 2:7)

So again: WHAT IS YOUR WATER?

What talent, skill, gift, or resource do you already have?
What can God use to move you from lack to abundance?

What has God already placed in your hands that you’ve been overlooking?

Do not bury your talent; it’s God-given to bless you.
